There’s an art to looking put-together yet coolly dishevelled all year round, and we’re pleased to say that this week’s spotlight, Clare Astra, has mastered it. Grounding girly dresses with boyish basics and rainbow streaked locks, she’s certainly perfected her own take on trans-seasonal dressing. But it’s her ability to riff on random style inspirations – The Rolling Stones, anyone? - that keeps us coming back for more; she may not be a rock star, but she’s got the style moooooooves... like Jagger.

I wanted to bring this dress into Autumn by adding a twist on how I'd worn it during the Summer months. I love mixing styles, colour and pattern, and experimenting with my wardrobe. Trying to reinvent my favourite pieces is a passion! The challenge of making something old look completely new is part of what makes fashion fun for me.

How would your friends describe your style?

Today I received a text from one of my best friends saying I looked “like an original non ironic '80s power dresser”. But that was just today, tomorrow I am hoping to look like Mick Jagger!

What are your wardrobe workhorses?

I couldn't live without a good pair of jeans. I love my boyfriend jeans for lazy days and I practically live in skinnies! I have them in almost every colour; they go with everything and are so easy to style.

Whose style do you admire?

There are so many people whose style I admire, but at the top of the list is Isabel Lucas. Her effortless bohemian/rock chick/earth child look is just perfection.

Best blogger reads?

Blogs I visit regularly include: Princess and the Pea, That's so yesterday, K is for Kani and The Style Crusader. They're not all big blogs but sometimes good things come in small packages, and these girls are little gems!
