Women's Trends Get into the Groove

The louche ‘70s are back on the fashion agenda for S/S ‘11 with an explosion of bright colours, retro prints, and groovy flares.

After last season’s focus on the prim and proper ‘50s, fashion has re-embraced hedonism and fun. Cue colourful, exuberant collections from Marc Jacobs, D&G and Sonia Rykiel, heavily influenced by iconic ‘70s designer Yves Saint Laurent. With an eye-popping colour palette of pink, purple, orange and mustard, this is a fun and irreverent take on the decade that traditional good taste forgot. Picture Bianca Jagger and Marisa Berensen kitted out in flowing maxi dresses, bright flares, and sky high wedge platforms busting moves in Studio 54 and you’ll get the idea.
